A Fond Farewell to My West Coast Cape Cod

A Fond Farewell to My West Coast Cape Cod

I sat down today to begin a new blogging adventure detailing my latest crazy scheme, which will now be introduced in my next post. This is due to my horrifying discovery that I did not give my dear friend of the last five years the fond farewell that she deserved. Yes, I consider houses to be female. Not sure why, but I do. I just abruptly stopped sharing and talking about her 2 years ago. I always meant to write one more post showing off her final achievements, but the chaos that has been the last 11 months left no time for pictures and flowery write ups. Things have calmed down enough recently that I feel I can now say goodbye properly to one of my favorite homes.

It was not easy for me to leave this particular home. I definitely left a bit of my soul behind with her. One year after moving back to the Portland, Oregon area the world went a little mad, and Portland went really mad. Over the next four years, this home became my haven and sanity. I was able to finish all that I intended both on the inside and out. This simple 1985 Cape Cod had a way of making the world around disappear. For me, the garden on a summer's day or evening was my favorite spot. I have moved on to my biggest home adventure to date. But, this Cape Cod that came before will always have a special place in my heart.

Here are some of the last photos taken before our move to our (spoiler alert) Michigan Farmhouse.
